Model Jewellery Photography

Celebrating female strength and individuality is the core ethos of UK-based jewellery creators, Rock&Raw.  They were featured in a previous blog, when I highlighted some creative still life shots, however, this second instalment showcases some great model shots along with uniquely mirrored product imagery.  We worked really hard but had great fun and in the end were able to encapsulate the ethereal essence of such a strong brand: strength in beauty.

The styling objective was to capture the brand's identity, so spotlights feminine strength with the obvious connection with the raw crystals and their spiritual properties.  Our model looked fantastic;  posing with raw cut crystals in the collection of three above, as well as artistic compositions which complement a product shot, like in the example below.

"Rock & Raw creates crystal-charged fine jewellery designed to raise your vibration and connect you to divine feminine energy. Our creations are inspired by the warrior-like strength, the rock, that’s in all of us, along with the raw spirit that we carry within too"

We had a blast working on this shoot which started with a blessing with sage and palo santo.  By the end we were knackered, but very relaxed, as you can see from the behind-the-scenes shot on the left!

Product Photography Fashion Accessories

This weeks blog features recent still life creative product photography for George ASDA, shot on location in a heart of London. When shooting on location i like to take my full studio kit which is usually more than i need but i remain mobile, shooting all over London and Uk. The fashion products and accessories were styled with pre-made props to create a series of promotional shots, below are a few examples.

Still life fashion accessories. Product photography by Chris Howlett, shot on location in London studio. A group of fashionable shoes styled on white painted blocks with long 3 dimensional creative lighting

Two contrasting images, the top shot in monochrome with a hint of gold, featuring the latest collection of accessories carefully positioned on painted white blocks. A hard light from the right create bold shadows across the blocks and provide a three dimensional interesting background. Below colourful spheres balanced between products, with a softer lighting style and room for text on the left.

Fashion still life, Women's accessories, hand bags and shoes on spherical coloured shapes. Creative product and packshot photography for commercial advertising campaigns in London.

The final few examples below are from a series of cropped and macro shots highlighting the textures fabrics and details.

Still Life Cosmetics on location in London

When creating still life product photography on location, I often use two main methods to achieve a particular look and style: one method is to source materials to create the required scene, e.g. a set build; and the other is to find a location which already has a particular style, which I can tailor to suit the brief. The photography featured in this blog, taken for Playboy Fragrances

Fashion still life product photography are usually associated with glossy, high-lit scenes featured on many billboards and magazine covers. However, not all fashion images are used for these mediums, but are just as important for use with copy via other marketing methods, such as printed gift guide and online marketing.

Advertising & packshot photography

As a fan of gadgets and mobile accessories i was pleased when brand Olixar approached me for some creative product photography for their website and other promotional material. The request was for a set of bold, colourful and impactive advertising product photography. I wanted to show the quality of the products and give them a premium feel, and where appropriate, would also create "lifestyle" still life images showing the products in use.

Advertising Still Life Product Photography London

Getting the chance to create still life product photography from beginning of an idea all the way through to completion is a pleasure, especially when you can see the success and growth of a brand or company. It's great to be able to carry over the creative direction from the still life product photography to the packshot photography. For this shoot the colour pallet was bright and impactive and the theme was cymk. The bright colours and style was to remain the same for both the advertising and the packshot photography.
